A Bustle of Layers

A taffeta dress with layers and layers. To bustle this dress I used the French Under Bustle method with color coded ribbons. When the dress was bustled you didn't even notice all the extra layers. The layers seamlessly blended so nicely.

My Story:

When I was 9 years old my mom gave me her old sewing machine and I started sewing doll clothes. As a high school student I was an active 4-H member receiving many awards for my sewing projects. While at Iowa State University I used my sewing skills to help pay my way through college by working in the ISU Sewing room & doing alterations for a local bridal shop. In May of 1992 I graduated from ISU with a degree in Apparel Design, started a job as an Interior Designer & married my husband Kurtis after a 3 year courtship. As my husband & I relocated over the years I relied on my sewing skills for extra income. My jobs included sewing for bridal shops, creating samples for Old Navy fashion designers from New York & assembling custom window treatments. When our 3 children were small, I was a full-time stay-at-home mom & continued to sew out of our home.
While I enjoy all types of sewing, bridal and prom alterations is my passion and expertise. My attention to detail, knowledge of different fabrics, couture quality sewing & promptness is what sets me apart from other seamstress’.
